From tiny goldcrests\, warblers and flycatchers to majestic golden and white-tailed eagles\, there is a rich variety of mountain\, moorland\, woodland and shoreline birds to see\, hear and enjoy. \nReverend Dale Hanson will be leading this special Even Sparrows retreat at Kilmalieu which is timed for the best of Scottish wildlife watching in autumn. Dale is an accomplished bird photographer and is keen to share his expertise. We will enjoy times of contemplative Christian worship\, guided birdwatching walks and reflections on some of the birds featured in the Bible\, such as doves\, eagles\, the raven and owl. \nKilmalieu is managed by the Abernethy Trust and occupies a stunning position on the shore of Loch Linnhe\, south of Fort William. It is a renovated eighteenth-century hunting lodge with a mixture of comfortable single\, twin and family bedrooms. Some bedrooms are en suite\, others have dedicated or shared toilets and showers. Food is home-made and consistently praised for its quality. DESCRIPTION:LOOK AT THE BIRDS on Holy Island\n\nDate: Fri\, 23rd Oct 2026 16:00 \nOur October retreat on Holy Island is timed for the peak of autumn migration. Our time will be spent on and around the island itself which in the autumn hosts large numbers of waders\, duck and geese as well as arriving passerines from continental Europe that include hordes of wintering thrushes. \nThe all-inclusive price is 535 pounds per person for 3 nights full board\, accommodation and retreat fees at Marygate House Retreat Centre on the island. People willing to share a twin room are each entitled to a 60 pound discount. The retreat runs from 4pm on Friday afternoon on 23rd October until 10am on Monday 26th. \nWe will be staying on the island itself at Marygate House – a very comfortable Georgian house with twin bedded rooms that share bathrooms and toilets. The food is home-made and consistently praised for its good quality. We will have exclusive use of the house and its facilities which includes its impressive library about Celtic Christianity. \nIn order to book your room\, please firstly contact me about availability. You will need to send a deposit of 150 pounds which is returnable until 6 weeks before the balance is due. 50% is refundable up until 4 weeks before\, and 25% refundable until 2 weeks to go. \n\n\n\n\n\n
