Create Pray Retreat day at Holland House

Create Pray, gives a time and space in the week, to be still from the business of everyday of life.

Being creative, and always interested in finding creative ways to connect with God in prayer, I stumbled on the idea of ‘Prayer Doodles’ using an ancient spiritual practice called ‘Lectio Divina’.

Lectio Divina is a way of listening to what God is saying through a biblical text, using a single word or two from scripture, to start a conversation with God.  Christian use this discipline in many forms to draw nearer to God, to open their hearts to Him and one another and to grow in Christian worship and discipleship.

I call my version of Lectio Divina, ‘Prayer Doodles’ and there are four simple stages to the process.

1. Lectio, which means reading.
2. Meditatio, which means meditating, chewing on, mulling over, or marinating in a word from scripture.
3. Oratio, meaning to speaker or pray.
4. Contemplatio, to contemplate.

During your day at Holland House, I will guide and teach you how to have a go at your own Prayer Doodle with guided instructions. All art materials are available for you and your own scrapbook is in included in your first session, to keep all your work.  Your creativity is not about the outcome but the process and listening to God and enjoying his presence.

All are welcome, of any age and ability, and you will leave feeling better than when you came!

This course is for a full day in a small group from 10-4pm and includes a two-course lunch and refreshments.
