Chris spent a period of formation at Prinknash Abbey Benedictine Monastery and is the Founder of The School of Contemplative Life. \nYou don’t need to bring anything – just yourself. We will ponder how we imagine and experience God as storyteller in our lives\, look at images of childhood itself\,  and discover a range of beautiful classic and contemporary picture books for children\, using them as a basis for prayer. \nArrive in time for supper at 7pm on Friday and depart by 3pm on Sunday.

DESCRIPTION:Meditation in the Christian tradition is an ancient and simple way of prayer. \nOur purpose is to teach meditation as a simple path to peace\, community and oneness. Our vision is to help people establish peace in themselves and become places of peace in the world. \nEach session includes a short talk\, a period of silent meditation practice (preceded by some basic guidelines for anyone who is new)\, and an opportunity for conversation afterwards. \nThe sessions are guided by Chris Whittington. Chris spent a period of formation at Prinknash Abbey Benedictine Monastery and is the Founder of The School of Contemplative Life. \nYou don’t need to bring anything – just yourself. Try to find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.

The love he experiences from God required him to be honest about his life and faith\, including his agitated mind\, which he referred to as a ‘case of knives’. In this quiet day\, we will spend time with Herbert’s poems to discover how the resonance of his poetry introduces us to him but also to ourselves\, the world and to God.
