Our time will be spent on and around the island itself where numbers of wintering geese\, duck and waders are often at their peak. If the winds turn north or easterly\, an impressive range of later autumn migrants from Scandinavia and continental Europe can turn up including Snow Bunting\, Woodcock\, Long-eared Owl\, Dusky Warbler and Little Auk. \nThe all-inclusive price is 535 pounds per person for 3 nights full board\, accommodation and retreat fees at Marygate House Retreat Centre on the island. People willing to share a twin room are each entitled to a 60 pound discount. The retreat runs from 4pm on Friday afternoon on 6th November until 10am on Monday 9th. \nWe will be staying on the island itself at Marygate House – a very comfortable Georgian house with twin bedded rooms that share bathrooms and toilets. The food is home-made and consistently praised for its good quality. Setting about the task with a few companions who became the nucleus of his brotherhood\, the work in the years ahead grew wider and deeper. It involved the repair of relationships within the Lord’s family\, within and between communities in conflict\, and with those considered enemies or outcast. \nFor Francis\, Christ’s gentle repair extended even to the family of creation. This introductory course offers participants the opportunity to make an icon over six weeks. All materials will be provided including pigments and an authentic gessoed panel. During the course\, we will learn how to transfer the drawn image onto the panel\, mix pigments and consider colours\, and add layers of highlights beginning with the initial Proplasmos.
