DESCRIPTION:Over this weekend we shall\, first\, explore the remarkable story of Etty Hillesum\, a young Jewish diarist who\, in the early years of the war through discovering an unconventional faith found her life was transformed\, and who became an inspirational figure in the transit camp where all the Dutch Jews were sent on their way to Auschwitz. \nAnd then we shall ask: what can the spirituality that she forged in that very darkest of times say to us in the midst of the anxieties and the fears and the multiple overwhelmings of our times?  \nPatrick Woodhouse is an Anglican priest\, and was formerly a Canon of Wells Cathedral.   He is the author of Etty Hillesum\, a Life Transformed\, and Life in the Psalms\, Contemporary Meanings in Ancient Texts (both published by Bloomsbury).   He lives with his wife Sam in Wells in Somerset. \nSuggested donation £160. \n\n\n\n\nPlease contact Suzi to check availability and avoid disappointment before registering for the weekend.

Mike and Shaun will bring their usual blend of wisdom\, scripture\, mindfulness\, song and fun as we access our hidden creativity. \nShaun is an author\, mindfulness researcher\, psychotherapist\, and Baptist minister\, who has completed a doctorate exploring the mindfulness of God. \nMike is currently Chaplain at the Scargill Community and a “natural voice” practitioner who has been running singing workshops and choirs for over 20 years\, helping and encouraging people to have confidence in their voice and find God in the joy of singing together.

DESCRIPTION:Meditation in the Christian tradition is an ancient and simple way of prayer. \nOur purpose is to teach meditation as a simple path to peace\, community and oneness. Our vision is to help people establish peace in themselves and become places of peace in the world. \nEach session includes a short talk\, a period of silent meditation practice (preceded by some basic guidelines for anyone who is new)\, and an opportunity for conversation afterwards. \nThe sessions are guided by Chris Whittington. Chris spent a period of formation at Prinknash Abbey Benedictine Monastery and is the Founder of The School of Contemplative Life. \nYou don’t need to bring anything – just yourself. Try to find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.
