DESCRIPTION:Date: June 5 – 7\, 2026\n\n\n\n\nIgnatius of Loyola was a 16th century Spanish nobleman\, ardent  to live a life of chivalry.   Before he was thirty years old\, however\, he was gravely wounded in battle\, and his whole life changed.   During his long recovery\, he was introduced to the lives of the saints and to the life of Jesus\, as told in the gospels\, which made a deep and irrevocable impression on him.   From that time on\, he became a fervent Christian\, developing a spiritual life that was rooted in personal experience and everyday life\, discerning God’s activity in all things.   Ignatius became aware that God is always actively seeking us out\, in the ordinary events of life and that responding to this requires all the senses to be attentive to God’s presence.   He also realised that harnessing the imagination and the heart’s desire is crucial in the goal of making a whole-hearted offering of one’s life to God. \nThis retreat will guide and encourage you to go deeper into this contemplative activity\, particularly through the gospel accounts of the life and work of Jesus.   No previous knowledge or practice is necessary.   Come as you are\, because that is the person God knows and loves. \nAs Ignatius discovered\, experiencing this is a joy and freedom that is life-changing. \nThe retreat conductor is Fr Nicolas Stebbing CR \nArrival is from 3.00 pm on Friday 5th June and departure is after lunch on Sunday 7th June. \nCost:  £196 in a standard retreat house room or £223 in an en-suite room in the annexe.

DESCRIPTION:Throughout the year\, our Garden Working Parties bring together volunteers who share a heart for service\, community\, and caring for God’s creation. These special events are a wonderful opportunity to refresh the grounds of our Retreat Centre while building friendships and enjoying time together in a peaceful and welcoming setting. \nThis year\, volunteers will be gathering on the following dates:March 23 to 26July 6 to 9October 12 to 15 \nDuring each working party\, volunteers help with planting flowers\, tidying pathways\, maintaining garden beds\, and preparing outdoor spaces for guests who come to the centre seeking rest and renewal. Every task\, whether large or small\, plays an important part in making the Retreat Centre a place of beauty\, peace\, and hospitality. \nAll accommodation and meals are provided\, allowing volunteers to focus fully on serving and enjoying fellowship. Days are filled with practical work\, shared meals\, prayer\, and meaningful conversations. Many who attend say that these times of working together are just as refreshing for the soul as they are productive for the gardens. \nThe Garden Working Parties are also part of our wider Helping Hands ministry. Alongside gardening\, volunteers often support the centre by baking\, preparing refreshments\, welcoming guests\, decorating indoor spaces\, and assisting during events. Everyone is encouraged to use their own skills and talents to help strengthen and grow the ministry. \nWe are deeply thankful for every person who gives their time and energy to support the Retreat Centre in this way. The impact of these working parties is seen not only in the gardens but in the lives of those who serve and those who later come to enjoy this peaceful place. \nIf you would like to be part of one of our upcoming Garden Working Parties\, we would love to hear from you.
