DESCRIPTION:Reconnecting to sacred nature” is a retreat running at Hilfield Friary on Friday 9th (from 12pm) to Sunday 11th (3pm) May 2024 geared at those of different spiritual traditions and none enquiring into the sacredness of nature in the midst of the ecological \ncrisis. \nThe retreat has four aims: \n\nTo help participants develop a deeper connection to and love for the beauty awe and sacredness of nature.\nTo honestly face the environmental crisis with hope\, courage and a sense of personal agency.\nBecome part of a wider movement for positive\, regenerative change in our society\nLearn to know\, honour and protect mother earth\, allowing all life to flourish.\n\nThe retreat will immerse participants in the beauty of creation in the Dorset countryside – slowing us down to nature pace. \nProviding time for reflection\, meditation and stillness inspired by nature. DESCRIPTION:Meditation in the Christian tradition is an ancient and simple way of prayer. \nOur purpose is to teach meditation as a simple path to peace\, community and oneness. Our vision is to help people establish peace in themselves and become places of peace in the world. \nEach session includes a short talk\, a period of silent meditation practice (preceded by some basic guidelines for anyone who is new)\, and an opportunity for conversation afterwards. \nThe sessions are guided by Chris Whittington. Chris spent a period of formation at Prinknash Abbey Benedictine Monastery and is the Founder of The School of Contemplative Life. \nYou don’t need to bring anything – just yourself. Try to find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.

This spring Saturday offers a chance to reflect on the Paschal Mystery through the lens of St Mark’s Gospel; a chance to experience Easter as a verb (as Gerard Manley Hopkins does in his poem The Wreck of the Deutschland\, from which today’s title comes) — God’s work in progress in our lives. This is planned as a spacious day\, with time to go at your own pace and enjoy reflection\, rest and gentle creativity. \nStarts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. Please bring a packed lunch.
