APR Autumn Retreat 2026

The 2026 APR Autumn Retreat will be held at Holy Rood House, Thirsk from 20-22 October, and will be led by Revd Cameron Butland. It is entitled, ‘Walking into Spirituality’, and will be based on themes from Cameron’s forthcoming book. Cameron writes, ‘We will reflect on the encounters with God that are experienced in our life journeys. Beginning with the stories of Jesus in the Gospels, together with the experience of Christians such as St Helena, St Cuthbert, St Francis, George Fox, John Wesley and contemporary teachers, we will explore the way in which we can come to discern the Holy Spirit in thin places and in the people we meet ‘. This will be a largely silent retreat, with plenty of time for your own prayer and reflections. Cameron has been Chair of the Association for Promoting Retreats since 2024. He is an experienced leader of retreats and quiet days, with a keen interest in both contemplative prayer and pilgrimage, and is the author of numerous books. The Retreat will cost £350 per person (for APR members and all bookings made before 1st May 2026), and £360 thereafter for non-APR members. This will cover all your meals and accommodation expenses.

The retreat will cost £350 per person (for APR members, and for all bookings made before 1 May 2026; it will cost £360 thereafter for non-APR members). This includes all your accommodation expenses and all your meals. You can secure your place by paying a non-refundable deposit of £50 now, and the balance by 25th September 2026, or, if it’s easier, you can choose to pay the full amount now.
