In May/June 2026, APR Administrator, Demelza Henderson, will be cycling 1150 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in aid of the APR Bursary Fund. She hopes to stay in a number of APR member retreat houses along the way, and raise at least £5000 to be able to support even more people to go on retreat in 2026.
She writes, ‘I completed the cycle almost 30 years ago, when I was in my 20’s, and have always wanted to do it again. I’m aware I’m not getting any younger (or fitter!), and now my children have both left home, 2026 seems the perfect opportunity! Last time, I remember being amazed at how the geography of the landscape changes every single day, and how the country is linked by a web of picturesque lanes as much as by noisy motorways… and I am excited to have the chance to experience this again, albeit stretched over almost twice as many days. My route is going to be a rather unconventional one, connecting twenty different APR member retreat houses and retreat leaders.’
