APR Online Quiet Day for Carers (9th July 2026)

This Quiet Day is being offered to any APR member who now finds themselves in the role of Carer. For some of us, becoming a Carer happens unexpectedly after a loved one has a sudden life changing illness or accident. For others the situation develops more slowly over a period of time because of aging or a developing condition. Whatever the situation, the person thrust into the role of Carer has to learn to adapt to a new (and often evolving) landscape, physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually, often without the resources that have supported them in the past – like, for example, going on retreat.

The Quiet day will be conducted via Zoom on Thursday 9th July 2026, and will be led by APR Vice-Chair, Revd Alison Christian, Vice-Chair of the Trustees of APR, an experienced retreat giver and Quiet Day leader, and now herself, a Carer. It will run from 10.15 until 3.30pm, with plenty of breaks for your own times of reflection and prayer throughout. Realising that all of us are in different situations, with different demands being made on us, it will be understood that anyone signing up for this day may need to dip in and out.

You can book a place on the Quiet Day online here, or please email the Administrator directly on promoting.retreats@gmail.com. There is no cost for the day but participants are invited to make a donation towards the APR’s costs according to their means.

Alison writes, ‘During the day we will have times of quiet and one or two times of sharing. We will ask, “What difference is this experience of being a Carer making to my relationship with God – and with myself?” Some suggestions will be offered for meditation and prayer as we seek a little space and time for ourselves to retreat in daily life. All the prayers and meditation ideas will be available after the day on our website for you to come back to.’
