Birdwatching retreat with Even Sparrows
LOOK AT THE BIRDS on Holy IslandDate: Fri, 6th Nov 2026 16:00 Our last retreat on Holy Island in 2026 is timed for the late autumn. Our time will be spent on and around the island itself where numbers of wintering geese, duck and waders are often at their peak. If the winds turn north or easterly, an impressive range of later autumn migrants from Scandinavia and continental Europe can turn up including Snow Bunting, Woodcock, Long-eared Owl, Dusky Warbler and Little Auk. The all-inclusive price is 535 pounds per person for 3 nights full board, accommodation and retreat fees at Marygate House Retreat Centre on the island. People willing to share a twin room are each entitled to a 60 pound discount. The retreat runs from 4pm on Friday afternoon on 6th November until 10am on Monday 9th. We will be staying on the island itself at Marygate House – a very comfortable Georgian house with twin bedded rooms that share bathrooms and toilets. The food is home-made and consistently praised for its good quality. We will have exclusive use of the house and its facilities which includes its impressive library about Celtic Christianity. You will need to send a deposit of 150 pounds which is returnable until 6 weeks before the balance is due. 50% is refundable up until 4 weeks before, and 25% refundable until 2 weeks to go. |
