Expect to see a good range of woodland, parkland and farmland birds around the abbey itself including Green Woodpecker, Yellowhammer and Barn Owl. We also spend a full day at Rutland Water – a brilliant nature reserve with an impressive range of water birds; summering warblers like Lesser Whitethroat and Garden Warbler, and various birds of prey including Red Kite, Hobby and, above all, several pairs of Osprey!
The Abbey is a delightful Christian retreat and conference centre, close to Oakham in the East Midlands. It is sited in historic parkland and situated in beautiful rolling countryside with several impressive ancient woodlands close by. It has lovely en-suite accommodation and wonderful cuisine which I personally recommend from our experiences over the past four years.
